Jesus House
So beautiful! This morning I decided to have the prayer part of my PT outside. I was sitting on a bench by the harbor just watching the water, listening to the seagulls and praying (side note: how blessed am I that I get to spend the first hour of my day like that?!). As I was sitting there I started thinking about the future. I try not to do this too much because I know we are supposed to live for today and that we will have new grace for tomorrow and when I try to look to far into the future it can cause me to start to get a little anxious because it feels so uncertain at times. Thankfully that anxiety no longer grips me as much as it used to. This time when thoughts of the future started running through my head I felt as if God was impressing on me that I need to learn to make the right little decisions now (those daily minute decisions - leaning always on God). Then when the time comes to make life-altering decisions I will know to turn to God (it will just be like a habit) and I will
know God’s voice; that I am making the decisions according to His will and plans for my life. That really made me feel at peace, which is such a great way to start off the day!
Healing Today we had a teaching on healing. I really am not very experienced in divine healing but I want to become more experienced. The Bible speaks of healing many times in the Bible, both in Jesus’ ministry and saying that follower’s of Christ will do even greater things than Jesus did (that’s pretty amazing! - I pray that I can actually start to grasp this truth so I can live this out). Even in the Great Commission (Mark 16:15-18) Jesus said of those who believe that “they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” There is such power in accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior. In living for Him, in doing things in His name, He is able to use us as tools for His kingdom. God gave Jesus authority and Jesus gave that to us, as His followers. God is so huge and often we limit His power in our lives and therefore in the lives of others (those He may have reached through us, had we been willing). We need to push ourselves (take steps of faith - which can be scary) but be bold and faithful so God can do even bigger things through us. God promises that we can be bold before Him and in 1 John 5:14-15 says “that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask- we know that we have what we asked of him.” God is able to heal the sick, God does not want His people to suffer or be under any kind of sickness. Hebrews 13:8 says Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Jesus is still healing today - through us (we are His mouth, hands, and feet). God wants to see His word performed (Jer 1:12). All the promises in the Bible - God is watching over His word ready to perform it. We can boldly ask God to fulfill His word (we can release His word into situations and people’s lives).
Since “You don’t really believe the Bible unless you act like it’s true” the teacher asked the group if anyone was dealing with any sort of sickness and that those around them would pray for healing. Three people raised their hands. The girl closest to me had a problem with her hand, she had been dealing with it for a couple of months but was just ignoring it, hoping it would go away. Apparently it was some sort of prominent bump on the side of her hand that was a bit painful (two of the other girls had felt the bump on her hand before). Five us placed our hands on her and started praying. After a few minutes of praying, one of the girls asked the girl being prayed for if she felt different or if anything had happened. Before she said anything I felt like I knew for sure God had healed her. I know this sounds strange but after the second to last person prayed I felt something inside me “say” ‘it is done’. She slowly reached to feel her hand and then started crying. She said while we were praying her hand started feeling cold but that it was now completely normal like her other hand. It is so awesome to see God work! I don’t think we fully grasp how powerful He is! He is after all the creator of the universe and not only that but He wants to release that power through us to further His kingdom. I really pray that I (& you) start to understand this and let Him work through us so that everyone will know that our God is an AWESOME God!
