sorry its been so long. you would think finding an internet cafe in europe would be easier. Quick Notes: 1. Holland is FLAT!!! This lends itself to lots and lots of bikers (not the Harley kind). Legally they do not have the right-of-way and must yield to cars, but nobody has told them that. Anyway, it makes for tricky driving because now you have two more lanes of traffic to pay attention to. Detail (but not much for Delft) We arrived in Delft after spending the morning getting our car window fixed. (see the brussels entry if you are confused). We loved Delft. It is a small country town, famous for its Delft porcelain (white and blue patterned.) We relaxed the first night in the beautiful town square and had a delicious dinner with some delicious ... read more

Hello all! After the last update, we walked around downtown Rotterdam. It's a totally new city because most of it was destroyed in 1945. All of the architecture is ultra modern and one building even has an entire wall about 25 storeys high that is sort of a digital screen. We took a boat tour from Rotterdam to the windmills at Kinderdijk. There are 19 of them there. One is for touring and the other ones are houses now! The next day we took the train into Amsterdam. We strolled through the main streets and took in the Vincent Van Gogh Museum and checked out the Heineken brewery. Amsterdam is full of all sorts of places to help with the munchies! No trip to Amsterdam is complete without a walk through the Red Light district....eye-opening to ... read more

Hello everybody, after a long 9 hour flight we finally arrived in Paris. It was a hot muggy afternoon and we definitely were not prepared for the humidity to be so bad. After not sleeping at all on the plane we decided it would be a good idea to go and discover Paris... Needless to say after a few hours of walking we ready to find our bed. The next morning we took an early train to Brussels and on to Brugge which is the most beautiful town. We say this after only seeing a few cities. We hiked 360 stairs up to the top of the bell tower in the town center for a great view. See the picture! After some Belgian fries and waffles it was time to go to our next town of ... read more

Day One - The Hague to Brussels This should've only taken 1 1/2hrs but trains were delayed and connections had to be made and 3 1/2hrs later we were finally in Brussels. We decided against the Van Gogh hostel since the q-tip experience really grossed us out. So we stayed at a place called Sleep Well. It was amazing! Just like a hotel but with dorm rooms. We were kicking ourselves for not booking this one last time. Day Two - Brussels to London Could've easily done this by Eurostar in a couple of hours but our budget didn't allow for such luxuries. So a train, train, bus, ferry, bus, another train, and an underground ride brought us to London. The highlight of the whole thing was seeing the White Cliffs of Dover on our way ... read more

We had a goodbye party for all of my family - it was a nice time to catch up and see everyone before heading back home. A very big thank you to Pim and Marijke for their wonderful hospitality and kindness! And also thanks to Peter and Simone for being our chauffer and tour guide and simply for their good company! We went to a place called Madurodam by Irenes house. It has all of Hollands famous buildings and architectural feats in minature. There was a little wooden shoe factory that if you put in a Euro a little truck would drive out of the factory and deliver a tiny pair of ceramic shoes to you. Also, did you know that Mars Bars are made in Holland? They had a mini chocolate factory and for 10cents a delivery truck would bring you a mini mars bar. We spent over 2hrs here, much longer than we intented, but it was so much fun! By that time the Peace Palace, where the international court is, was closed. So we drove by it instead. We walked around town and saw the government buildings. But it started to pour so we ... read more
