Today we set out by tram to Amsterdam Centre and to enjoy a canal boat tour. Taking the tram rather than the Metro gave us a much better look at the city centre and all of its beautiful museums, parks, canals, flower markets, shops and curiosities.
After choosing a boat, we set out in our comfortable canal boat and toured the harbour and various canals. So much history to absorb. Such a beautiful city. Our tour guide told us that there are over 100 Kms of Canals in Amsterdam. Many of the homes bearing historic plaques dating in the 1600 's. Amazing. So many houseboats parked along the canals. We learned that due to a housing shortage at one time, people resorted to making their homes, on the water. It was a beautiful one hour cruise
Following our canal tour we walked the many streets of Amsterdam just taking in all the sights. We walked through Chinatown and the Red Light District and on to many other neighbourhoods. One of the many unusual sights are the street urinals which are out in the open streets. Quite an interesting way to accommodate the gents! Of course, Wayne needed to investigate

Amsterdam Canal Cruisingand put one to use! ???
We continued our walking and even picked up a cache or two, or three along the way. We actually met a young couple at one cache who had just found it and we signed. the log book together. So many bicycles ? and scooters ? in this city, you must really keep your eyes ? and ears open ?? as they are darting every which way. Yikes!
We walked through an open square where we saw a Batman, the Grim Reaper, Dracula, an Indian in a loin cloth and a naked woman being painted in body paint. Sadly, our camera had run out of battery. Amsterdam is such a crazy, lively, vibrant city.
After another hour of street strolling and sight seeing we found a nice outdoor cafe where we found two cold beers with our names on them, before we made our way home. What a great way to people watch and relax after all our walking. All manner of folk coming and going every which way, as you sit and sip on a cold beer! We even passed a casino where we slipped in for a few minutes to
try our luck. No go, unfortunaly.
We were finally "walked out" so it was time to find our Tram #5 and cruise home to our hotel through this amazing lovely city. A great day and still so much to see!
