look ma, no hands!

my first REAL skate. REAL ice. REAL serious skaters. and REAL thin ice. :)

outta the warm-up area...

and into the full meadowlands D and i went...man, to spin among the cat-tails...(note: she has REAL skates)

no joking around here...

one area was completely organized, with two-lane skating...most had REAL skates - unlike my dainty figure skates...

just a random spot along a canal in utrecht - families would descend upon the frozen water with brooms, cones, skates, sleighs, picnic baskets.

and he was not the only one!

how these jogging prams must glide along...! ps it, of course, was -10C. pretty much summer.
