Hi all- Well we finally arrived to Malta last night around 10 pm Malta time (3 pm MN time). Lots of airline time and airport time. We had a taxi waiting for us to take us directly to SImon's Pub. It was great to taste a Cisk (Chisk) again. As I have told people it is like PBR with lemon. We slept in this morning, took a quick walk around Sliema to the market and are now wandering the streets of Valetta, the capital city. I forgot how jam packed everything is here. Front doors open right up to the street and I have to turn sideways to get in them! ANyways, that's all I got, Lyndsay is up next and since I am to cheap to pay 2 Euro for 45 minutes we only got ... read more

It was embarkation day and time to pack up and travel to the port of Pireaus, Greece to board the Voyager. We were so excited to see our favorite ship docked in the harbor and to greet our shipboard family. After 403 days on Regent ships, everything was so familiar. We noticed changes like flat screen TVs in the suites and new furniture on Pool Deck. We know where everything goes in our suite and our old routine immediately comes back to us. It didn’t take long to settle in. We had packed lightly for our 17 day cruise through the Mediterranean and across the Atlantic. Our calendar started filling up with lunch and dinner plans with old and new friends, an anniversary party and a formal dinner for 8 including several friends-one from corporate, the ... read more

Hiya so I am actually going to try to write some blogs during break. So Easter break is forever long over here. It started on March 13th and goes til April 13th, which through this time we have to leave the flat and go exploring. My break began on kind of a rocky note. The day we were meant to leave I still hadnt receieved a confirmation saying that I had booked my flight to Malta so I was getting a little anxious. By the time we had reached the airport in London I had had around 3 hours to worry about whether or not I had actually booked this darn ticket. So by the time we reached the check-in counter I had every form of ID and credit card out, just in case and my ... read more

Malta is a very, very interesting country. Our trip was in the middle of their election and there are two main political parties in Malta, the Labor Party and the Nationalists. On the second day that we were there, according to one of our hotel workers, Malta elected its first democratically elected president. So, needless to say there were parties everywhere. Our hotel, Hotel Alexandra, was located right in the middle of the largest tourist district so the scenery consisted mostly of restaurants and nightclubs. This part of the country, St. Julians, was very dirty and crowded, but once you leave this area Malta is beautiful. I arrived in Malta Thursday night and spent most of Friday just getting oriented with the atmosphere of Malta and the location of our hotel. My first adventure outside of ... read more

I stayed in Malta after my travel to Croatia in April 2004. The first day, I arrived in a holiday village named Hal Ferh near Golden Bay. I took the bus to Valetta. I took some photos. The next day, I went to Valetta. I saw the video presentation of the whole Malta history entitled The Malta Experience. I walked a little. I went to a pastry-cook's shop. I ate a Qassata that is a Maltese cake with cheese. I took a cake with vegetable. I had a Honeywheel that is small pastry shaped like a wheel with honey. I visited the museum of the Saint John co-cathedral. There were big tapestries offered by the Great Masters of the Order of Malta. The following day, I took the bus till Saint Paul's Bay. I went ... read more

For Christmas 2007 we journeyed from Munich to Malta. We flew for pretty cheap on Air Malta as winter is far and away the off-season for tourism in Malta. As our flight touched down at the Malta airport everyone on our plane broke into spontaneous applause. At first this seemed kind of funny to me, but then seemed a bit off-putting. Was there a reason we should be so happy that we landed safely? Maybe they had made some kind of announcement on the flight in Maltese that I didn't understand. Whatever, we were in Malta and it was a comfortable 75 degrees outside and sunny. We were happy to be someplace new. We changed money at the airport when we found that on January 1st Malta would be transitioning from their own currency to the ... read more

The ship docked at Valletta, the capital city. Malta, officially known as the Republic of Malta is a Southern European island country consisting of an archipelago in the Mediterranean. It lies 80 km south of Italy 284 km east of Tunisia and 333 km north of Libya. Malta is one of the world's smallest and most densely populated countries.
