so....i departed moscow on friday night. it was very difficult. i spent all day friday trying not to cry in front of my hozaika. and when we said good bye i was so sad, i almost cried but i kept it together. it was after teh train started moving that i lost it and cried a lot. i was crying because i was leaving my home for the last 4 months, my hozaika, and my friends. the thing that made it so hard is that i dont know when i will be back. i really hope and feel i will be back. i want to go back. the trip to the train station was an adventure. it was my hozaika, her friend volodya and myself. he helped carry my backpack and i pulled my gigantic suitcase. ... read more

Last days in the Baltics. It would be easy to say I have a grasp on this area of the world, but like many of these old cultures, it is hard to understand the mind set of the people without living amongst them for some time. However, during my 2 or so weeks of travelling around this, very Eastern, part of Europe, I feel glad to have come here, and happy with my time, and the people who I have met along the way. Before making my next trip Belarus, I looked around Vilnius and felt somewhere entirely different to either Latvia or Estonia. Something, I couldn't quite put my finger, what it was anyway. From the start , the Lithuanian s seemed much more friendly and this perhaps came from Lithuania being the least visited ... read more

well, its certainly been a pleasant few days. as im walking around these wide streets i always think of a million and one things to write about, but then sit me in front of a computer and my mind goes blank, only thinking about really menial things. but then all of my blogs are centered around menial things, so maybe that isnt so bad. anyway, if i remember correctly there were 3 things i wanted to go on about, so lets get cracking. first of all, a pretty lovely human interchange that happened on wednesday afternoon. i went to sigulda, which is probably the quietest place i have been on my travels, especially in october. that isnt the good part though, heh. got the bus back to riga, and that was all fine. anyway, the girl ... read more

Lithuania and Vilnius.. A place that has now changed me in so many ways by the time I had left the country to be heading back to Australia. First stop in Lithuania was the hill of crosses and i remember thinking this is one creepy place.. It is not just one hill of crosses either, the whole area is completely covered in them and an amazing sight when first seen. It is hard to get to though from the city that is close by if not having a car. It ended up a local bus trip, guessing where to get of then walking for a hour or so to the hill. Getting back was worse and since I had a bus to catch I ended up rushing through the place. Next stop was Kaunas and it ... read more

Saturday, July 12’Th It’s a strange thing not to a trip by taking the bus to Billund. But I have moved to Aarhus, so the bus to Billund is of no use today. Instead it’s the train bound for Copenhagen. My Air Baltic plane leaves for Vilnius at 8.30 pm. The flight takes about 1½ hour, and with the difference in time on one hour it’s about 11 pm as we land in Vilnius. I find a taxi for the ride into town and my hotel Domus Maria. I arrive at about midnight, and go to bed. Sunday, July 13’Th Domus Maria is an old convent, close to a few fine churches. Now it’s been rebuilt into a nice Guesthouse. I get up early - at 8 am and after breakfast I head for the town. ... read more

Now, following the new trends in AIESEC in Lithuania, MC officially opened the team-building season with an unforgettable session in Andzelika's place (2 KM away from Bulgaria (and all other countries starting with "B" like Budapest, Berlin and Beer) according to Deny/ 2 KM away from Belarus according to the map). Participants: Kaja, Elin, Andzelika, Ieva, Deny, Rytis, Vytenis and of course me...ups...but let's not forget ANDRIUS, our beautiful chair. The Balkans Rule... the Baltics drool! I've officially decided that the whole "Seeing the World" thing is totally overrated. Screw it... from now on, I'm going no further than the Balkans where, above all its other amazing attributes, THE PEOPLE ARE FRIENDLY!! I'm on the bus getting the Hell out of Vilnius, and not a moment too soon! How I regret leaving sweet Estonia with its saunas and nice old towns and good dancers! I'm hoping that Lithuania will redeem itself over the next two days when I'm out of its truly shit capital! Last night, my dinner was pretty good. I had pork, mashed potatoes, brocooli and carrots, all kind of mixed up in a stew-type mess (yummy, though), and 2 half beers, and read my Salman Rushdie book. I left the restaurant at 8:30 ... read more

Hi from ho-hum Vilnius Hmmm.... I was expecting to be blown-away by Vilnius, but so far I haven't seen anything that compares to the beauty of Tallinn (but, to be fair, I've only been here for a couple of hours, so I'll reserve judgment for now). The bus ride from Riga to Vilnius was a painless 4 hours (I had my raspberries and my mobile phone games to occupy me). When I arrived, I got a little lost finding my way from the bus station to the AAA hostel. The hostel had a pretty creepy feel right away, made even creepier when I found out that the rooms were made up of pods! I'm sleeping in a pod tonight ... Lithuania, thus far, is just creepy (made even creepier by the nutcase who has been chanting ... read more

. The summer is over. In the last month loads of things changed in my life especially the people structure around me, people coming and people leaving, meeting new people and making new friends and in the same time missing some others. In the last month people returned from different countries in the world and people left. But the most interesting thing is that most of us were out of Lithuania and at one point we managed to see each other again. So, Deny, Elin and Ieva were out in Brazil for 3 weeks, Rytis was in Bulgaria, Laura in London, I was in Romania, Rene in Belgium, Andrius was in Lithuania....but as we were not here all the time it as as he was in a different country :D...But he is now leaving for Pakistan ... read more
