We learned that sadly this building was distroyed during the 1940s, the current building is an exact replica based on the original blueprints.
After our 4 day relaxation and ready to hit the road again so off we go to Latvia our first stop is Riga. I had never hear of it before we decided to see the Baltic Countries. So let me tell you our experience of Riga and what we thought of it. We were told that Riga was dirty with lots of graffiti, but what we found was something totally different and unexpected. What we found was a beautiful friendly old mixed with new city, with narrow streets and antique buildings. I love the pedestrian-only old town makes it easy to walk around without the concern of buses, cars and trucks and poop in and out of the many shops and stop for a beer at one of it's many little street pubs.

We chose to stay a little out of downtown as it is easier to park and navigate the streets a little better, when you can't read any of the signs and GPS doesn't always pick up amongst the buildings. But just a short walk from our hotel ( Ibis Styles) maybe 300 metres you could catch the street car that takes you right to the heart of

Old Town. We purchased our tickets for the tram right across the street at the postoffice, so for 2.40 euro we got a stressfree ride with the dog.

Didn't do the hop on hop off tour this time as we had only planned for a day here, could have easliy stayed a day more. But we were happy wondering along the river Daugava to one of the cleanest market places I have seen. There was a huge out door market selling everything of course, then another large permant indoor market, loved them both and highly recommend a stroll through them on your visit.

Sadly we leave Riga and travel onward.
