VENICE
Canals and more canals Pretty easy drive up from Florence and we are staying in Mogliano just outside Venice as we have a car and a bit hard for parking. 10 minute train ride into Venice so suited us down to the ground, the B&B we are staying at is lovely, very newly renovated and has everything we need, Villa Salvoro. On our first afternoon headed down to the local restaurant/bar Il Nottambulo, went for lunch stayed for dinner??!! Enough said! The most magnificent steak of 2.2 kg shared between all of us, wobbled home at 10pm! Up early next day to head into Venice for the day, took a tour over three islands and then just soaked up the atmosphere of Venice, all the islands different, Morano (where all the beautiful Morano glass is blown) Burano and the main island, walked all over Venice, meandering around all the narrow streets and over canals and down walkways, we had a great day but been there done that! Truly we were expecting so much more, the smell of stagnant water...mmmm....not romantic one little bit! The gondolas were special to watch....watch only!!! 80 Euro for half an hour! Ridiculous! The Duomo was really beautiful but no photos
BURANO ISLAND
Love all the colored houses in there either, the mosaics were really spectactular! Too many tourists, thousands of people everywhere not our thing! As Lara had said to us two nights is more than enough....good advice taken and then we are travelling up into Austria to visit family friends of Mark's at Steyr! Looking forward to a bit of a temperature drop too!
