GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today was SUPPOSED to be a travel day. Due to a 24 hour pilot strike this morning at 4:30 our first leg to Venice was cancelled. Thank you Lufthansa for not negotiating well with the pilots and totally screwing up the front end of our trip. (130,000 passengers world wide affected) Lufthansa has no seats available for 5 days. Frantic phone calls have gotten us booked with Air Canada. We are booked out on Saturday. Stand by....... read more

Ce dimanche nous avons décidé de faire un petit tour en gondole car nous ne pensons pas que nous reviendrons encore un jour ou souvent à Venise… On aura ainsi aucun regret… Après nous être renseignés samedi du prix nous avons constaté qu’il fallait faire attention de ne pas se faire arnaquer par le premier venu… et une fois dans la gondole ne pas se laisser faire par « au retour Mme faudra encore me payer 20 % du prix parce que vous m’avez payé par Visa »… « Scusate ? Abbiamo fissato il prezzo e non ci sarà nessun extra caro signore…. » Je pense que vous aurez réussi à traduire qu’il n’en sera pas question…. ! Vous aurez reçu ce même titre de blog mais sans résutat ni de photos ni de texte... Travel Blog déraille à nouveau... je tente ma chance plusieurs fois et espère qu'un jour cela fonctionnera !!! Et oui… Cortina n’a pas que ces boutiques et ses hôtels de luxe… Aux alentours et surtout en altitude on y trouve de magnifiques sommets et des vues époustouflantes ! C’est ainsi que pour notre dernière journée ici, le camping se trouvant au Sud de Cortina, nous prenons la route qui nous y amènera à nouveau à Cortina, mais qui par après nous dirigera vers le Pazzo Falzarego, tout en y allant pas vraiment mais en nous arrêtant avant aux Cinque Torri…. I didn’t like Venice one bit, the only time I visited it on a sweltering Saturday in July decades ago. I can remember impossible crowds, sickening heat, dirty water, a miserable hostel in a convent. My friends and I got up the next morning and showered under a cold tap, and caught the first train to Switzerland. Today I thought I would give it one more chance this Saturday, but try to be one step ahead. I booked a good hotel 0.9 miles from the train station. I left my suitcase at the train station for 18 euros, and carried a light bag. I got good instructions from hotel staff how to do Venice in a day, plus a map that clearly labeled the hotel.
