We all slept in this morning, I had woken up at 5am couldn't sleep so did some writing until 7am then went back to sleep in Lexie's bed (she has sometimes crawled into bed with us) her bed was more comfortable than ours so it was a good sleep, we got on the road by 10.30 it is a long drive today, we are leaving France and going to Italy 7 hours driving if the roads are not busy. It was a good job that we went to Cannes, Nice and Eze on the cruise because we didn't stop today at all Malcolm just kept driving, on the motorways the driving is easy because it is mostly 3 lanes but of course you bypass all the cities so you don't get to see them at all, going around the coast of France and Italy is different than home because if you are on the motorway then it is tunnels, lots and lots of tunnels and road was what we saw today, they don't have places to stop and see the scenery you just drive from point to point have stops for food and petrol that's all, plus we were squashed in our little car with all our bags. Things got a little frosty I can tell you. If we travelled around the coastline it would have been stunning but taken us probably three days. We went flying past Monaco and bang we were going through a tunnel then the next tunnel looked different we realised we had made it to Italy. We arrived at 7.30 at our hotel it was very easy to find. We didn't bother to unpack as we are only here for one night, we got a cab into the city the opera was on at the amphitheatre tonight so it was bustling, we walked around the streets and then found an outdoor cafe/restaurant for dinner. We didn't realise that Juliet's house is in Verona but as it was we arrived too late to go and see it anyway. Very beautiful city. Caught a cab back to the hotel at midnight crashed before I could finish my cup of tea
