During the carnival season I am feeling constant nostalgic about our trip that we took a few years ago in Venice, one of the most romantic city on earth. We went during the carnival, that attracted thousands of people from different countries - who enjoyed the life together in this magical city. At this time people celebrate the life itself and happiness - it was fantastic to see childen and adults, parents and grandparents together smiling at each other- in spite of the fact that all streets and squares were so crowded. The atmosphere were magical, I felt like we returned to the past when I saw the fancy costumes that people had. It was really incredible to see masked people - it didn't matter who you are - you could hide your face behind your mask. Sometimes I am thinking that normally how many different masks we use in our life - one for our family, one for our colleagues, one for our friends, one for our parents etc.- what is the real face? 😊

Naturally we didn't miss to buy colorful masks for ourselves, so we felt like in a fairy tale physically as well. We felt the carneval spirit absolutely!

As it was an organised one day tour, our day was full of walking while we discovered the most important sights of Venice. St. Mark's basilica, Doge's palace, St. Mark's square, bridge of sighs, Rialto bridge, but not surprisingly there were huge rows and crowded streets everywhere we went.

In the afternoon we had free hours so we decided to carry on walking and discovering. The streets were decorated, we always bumped into interesting performances, dances, shows in the small squares. We were fascinated with the narrow streets and laughed a lot when we tried to imagine how local people can orientate themselves in this labyrinth. So complicated! 😊 The most important thing that I can suggest you If you visit Venice is that don't be afraid of getting lost in the city. As there are many opportunites in terms of directions we were so spontaneous and once we chose an abandoned narrow street instead of main streets where other toursts walked. It was very exciting because we didn't know where it leaded to, but we found ourselves in a garden of small palace where beautiful masked people were together and took pictures about themselves. It was right next to the canal grande where many gondolas carried passingers on the water. It was really amazing to be in a quiet place in this vibrant and bustling city at the time of Carneval. We were just amazed at how beautiful life is.
