Ahhh ... Venice ... not much more to say about it really. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't already have an image in their mind of Venice. The gondolas, the canals, the old building hugging narrow walkways sigh! The people, the pigeons, the heat, the smell, the people ... everywhere ... grrrr.
I was in Venice way more years ago than I want to admit and have fond memories of wandering the streets and canals so I was very excited to go back and see if the memories lived up to present day reality. It was better, one because last time I was there it was December, cold and grey and June in Venice proved to be warm and sunny (bonus) and two because Blue and I had the same general approach ... Venice is about is about wandering randomly and seeing what treasures you trip over around the corner.
So commenced 2.5 days of wandering, hanging out on vaparetto tripping up and down the canals, dining next to canals watching boats go past, island hopping to Murano (island of glass blowing) and Burano (island of pretty colours) and generally just soaking up the
atmosphere! We even managed to include a 'short cut' late at night which involved a little bit of round and round ... ahhh Venice ... if you've never taken a wrong turn a couple of times you haven't really seen it!
