Leaving Garda we head east to Venice where we camp across the lagoon from the city and are able to watch the traffic heading into the port.

Water bus across the lagoon to Venice today. Following a walk from the Independent – 48hrs in. ( I knew all those saved travel supplements would eventually prove useful ) we wandered the back streets of Venice arriving eventually in St Mark’s square. ‘The Boys’ then ascended the Campanile or bell tower from which there were fantastic views over the city. Max meanwhile sat and had the most expensive drink ever in St Mark’s square listening to the resident orchestra. Back on the ground Ben and Jack fed the pigeons with bread left over from our picnic. Then it was on with the tour through the maze of streets and alleyways to the Rialto bridge where we bought blank carnival masks for later decoration as an art class exercise having seen lots of fantastic ones for sale during our walk.
