Venice is one of the greatest tourist destinations in Italy, and as I said, it is always swamped with tourists. I checked into my hostel and immediately proceeded to the computer room to access the internet. There was an American (Josh) who I immediately struck up a conversation with. A very down-to-earth, and likable fellow, and the purpose of his stay in Venice (and Europe overall) is an interesting one. He told me that he won a scholarship/ special grant from Boston Architects' Society which required him to conduct architectural studies on the selected architectures in Europe with the goal of transforming/ re-building the Boston City Hall at the end of the project. He showed my his sophisticated studies on his Apple Macbook Pro computer...and it contains architectural studies/ drawings from Amsterdam, London, Paris, Venice...etc. I thought to myself "lucky guy" because he got the chance to crisscross Europe with all the expenses paid for.

While talking to him, there entered another girl (Christine) who we chatted with. She is from Seattle and was in Venice for her second last city in Europe. We took to each other and decided to explore Venice together. At night, Christine and her room mate Igor (who is another American from California) and myself went together to see Venice. Hey, three is a company. We took the Route #1 boat cruise which costs 6 Euros and the boat picked us up at one end of Venice and dropped us eventually at the Santa Marco (St. Marcos Square). Here are the pictures:

The saga will continue tomorrow...
