About 2 years ago we were invited to attend the wedding of family and friends the Moorcrofts in England over Easter. It didn't make sense to go all that way for 2 days so we decided to tack on a side trip to Venice followed by an Adriatic cruise. It worked out quite well as you will see. Mykonos, Greece.

This Orthodox Church is considerably less showy than the Catholic Cathedrals we have visited.

Ashore on Mykonos

A look at the iconic windmills with our ship anchored in the background.

Sarande, Albania

A fort high above the town afforded a nice view over the Adriatic. Corfu is directly behind us.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

This photogenic walled city has an interesting history of avoiding being sacked (Venetians, Turks & others) by bribing the invaders to go away.

Retired bell ringers

The upper body pivots to allow them to dong the bell with their hammers.

Strong box

This box was used to transport the bribe in gold coins to keep the invaders at bay. It had a whole series of locks so that those transporting it couldn't take a sample or two on the way!

Clever waiter

We were assigned the same table for dinner each night but could, and did, arrive anytime we wished. Our waiter, Gusti was a talented young man but as is typical,, was away from his home for up to 10 months at a stretch.

Well of course it would NOT make sense to go all that way for just two days - SOOOO why not go on another trip LOL - nice seeing you guys all decked out at the wedding - was that a birthday cake I saw for Ian - Happy Birthday
