It rained rather a lot overnight. That has been a continuous feature of the weather. Rain one day and cool the next interspersed with sunshine. Autumn has moved on a lot with the trees cloaked in their plum and crimson coats. We slept well through it though. Waking only as dawn was breaking on an Italian Monday morning. As we lay there listening to the towns church bells ringing and town waking up, we could hear the sound of cars. Mums bringing their children in to school. The car park soon filled up which for us meant time to move on. We thought when we get home we will clean Suzy. Shake the dust off her exterior, pull her carpets up and empty all the cupboards in order to take her to get a valuation against ... read more

Bon Journo! This morning after breakfast at the hostel we had a little time to wander through the giant flee market that was settling up all the way down main street. The flee market was part of the festival and had everything from random antiques, to handmade furniture, jewelry and clothes. I think Elizabetta described it best when she called it all “oddities”. There were LOTS of random stuff, but it was all really fun to look at! We got to wander through and look at everything and then we all headed to mass. The mass at this church definitely had more of a “community” feel. There was a lot more participation from the congregation and it was a lot more full than the mass at Saint Lorenzo’s. There was also a bulletin so that we ... read more

This morning we got up for breakfast at 9:00 at the other hostel. It was a pretty good continental breakfast that had COFFEE!! So I was happy! I got a little chance to get on the internet, and since they only have WiFi and no computers, I became everyone’s new best friends because I have a netbook. So after breakfast I left my netbook with an eager crowd hoping to get a chance to check email and headed back to the hostel to get a few errands done before we headed out. Back at the hostel I had a chance to do a little more explore and Cody and I went up to the roof of the tower for a view of Montagnana. At 11:00 we met downtown for an official welcome to Montagnana from the ... read more

We should have known after yesterday that this morning’s “simple” travel plans just couldn’t go as planned. We were supposed to get up, pack our suitcases and roll our suitcases all the way down the street to the Piazza de Italia where the bus from Montagnana would pick us up. So there we were standing on the street corner with all of our luggage and belongings at 10:00am waiting for the bus, that would never show. After 15 minutes of waiting Dr. Lees finally called the hostel in Montagnana and they told him that their bus couldn’t come up to the Piazza de Italia because vehicles needed a special permit to drive up the hill. So we had to haul our suitcases down the hill to the mini metro we took yesterday and get to the ... read more

Geo: 44.7766, 11.0998I was very impressed with myself this morning, I got up really early and caught the 7.05 vaporetto and the 7.58 train out of Venice. The train was slightly late, which meant I missed my connecting train and had to wait three hours at Monselice. The man at the train station was useless, he couldn't store my bag and didn't know if i could catch a bus instead. My only choice was to wait at the station for the next train which was three hours away, painful!! So to pass time at the station I; cut my toe nails, painted them, dried my damp towels, slept, read a book, did some Sudoko puzzles, ate and drank. Finally arrived in Montagnana and found the hostel. It has moved from a previous location, but all the ... read more
