This morning Michael, Dad and I went for a drive with dad's cousin Genesio to the market in the nearby town of Castelfranco. The piazza was quite busy due to being market day, so Genesio dropped us off and went to find somewhere to park his car. The three of us walked around the market. Nothing really interested us. We went to the fish shop because dad thought we were going to find Genesio there. He wasn't there, so we kept walking around.

We decided to walk into the old medieval part of town. The old town is surrounded by a moat filled with water and ducks. There are three entrances to the old town and we walked through the one on Via Francesco Maria Preti. The old town was pretty quiet and cars were allowed in. In here there are shops, houses, a cathedral and part of the remaining castle.

Walking towards the cathedral dad pointed out a building that we went to in his teenage years to learn concreting. We walked into the cathedral. It was quite plain inside compared to the churches in Rome. The most impressive thing was Giorgione's painting, 'Castelfranco Madonna' painted in 1503 during the

Renaissance.

He was born as Giorgio Barbarelli da Castelfranco and died during the plague in 1510. Only six of his paintings still survive, with many not being certified as his work. It was time to try to find Genesio again. We walked out of the old town along Via Giuseppe Garibaldi. Now we were back in Piazza Giorgione.

We walked towards the fish shop and found him along the way. It was time now for a break, so we found a bar and had a coffee and pastry. Then we went back to the fish shop again and dad bought some fish. We didn't need or want to buy anything else, so we drove back to Loria.

I spent some time this afternoon packing my suitcase as tomorrow we were leaving here and going to the west to stay with my aunt Elenora and my cousins.

This evening we were going out with some of the cousins for dinner. Jenny, Manuel, Mauro, Patrizia and Cathy were able to come. We went to a pizza restaurant where we each ate a huge, delicious pizza. Michael and I said our goodbyes to Mauro, Manuel and Cathy. Then Patrizia, Jenny, Michael and I went to

Bassano del Grappa for a drink or two.

The piazzas in Bassano del Grappa were full of people socialising at the bars. We people watched as we enjoyed our drinks. Then it was time to go back as we had an early start in the morning. We said goodbye to Patrizia and Jenny then went to bed.
