On the first day of the tournament, we had watched in the stands as Great Britain convincingly defeated Australia. Within the first minute of the game, GB had scored against the roos. As quickly as they had erected their flag in 1776 and claimed an entire continent as their own, they had stolen the game in 2014 as well. While the Aussies tried to battle back, it was too late, and the Union Jack prevailed. As we watched the game from the grand stand, we realised we would have to be at the top of our game, and tough as nails on defense if we were going to have a fighting chance of a win for ourselves.
