Sorry - did the followings in wrongs order, part b shld be before part a.
Part a. Assisi, 10 th nov.
We made an early start & visited Assisi. It took a bit of getting to as its a walled town perched atop a steep hill. U cant drive there & all car parks at bottom of hill. But its worth the climb. We really liked it & the Basilica di San Francesco is different again than any weve seen. They built a church in 1228 & then a few yrs later started building another one on top which is huge by itself. We liked the bottom one better, it had a lovely semi circular domed roof which wasn't as high as others and painted with stars and geometri c patterns and lovely frescoes above the altar. We had a big walk around one of the perimeter walls because it wasnt raining! It was really picturesque being up so high and looking down on surrounding countryside. After Assisi we drove to where we had to return the car, a place called Orvieto.
Part b.
We left the truffle farm about 2 & headed off in hire car to Assisi. Armed with our map (which was for all of italy so not as detailed as could have been), we managed to get there despite torrential rain & max not being able to see for a time because pf the windscreen fogging up & me insisting I had it on de mist when in fact it was on recirculate! So it pretty stressful watching for the signs in the pouring rain on the autostrada! When we reached the outskirts of Assisi we booked into one of the 1st hotels we came across!
