This morning was a leisurely 2 hour drive through rolling countryside to the Hotel Dal Moro in Santa Maria degli Angeli which is close to Assisi. The hotel is quite modern even though it seems to have been put together from a couple of buildings because there are changes with various levels.
There was a street market by the hotel so we were unable to access the parking until later so we headed to Assisi – about 3K. The weather is showery today – our first for the trip. Fortunately as the day progressed the weather continued to improve and we only needed the umbrella for about 10 minutes.
Assisi is another pedestrian limited area so we parked at one of the modern parkades and walked and took the escalator into the main town. This is a very well preserved medieval town well worth visiting. It has a fascinating history which I will fill in before publishing the book.
There are many churches, squares and small roads – many lined with shops.
