In one of my classes, "The Villa and the Garden," we spend 2/3rds of our classtime on site. During the week, this means that our 2 hour Wednesday class is spent within Florence, but because villas are located in the countryside by definition, this also means we have many Friday Field Trips. Silvia, our professor, is really awesome though and often gives us Monday off when we go on a Friday Trip. Our first Friday Trip was to one of the Medici Villas, which is particularly appropriate given that a whole ton of the Renaissance Villas were built for various Medicis.
