Day 16 Saturday 6 October

Bring on the Shopping

Wake Up 6am
Breakfast 6:30
Leave 7:30am

It took us about 4 hours to get to Florence. We only had an Autogrill stop and pushed on. We stopped on the hill overlooking Florence for a group photo €10. This view was spectacular. They had a copy of the David there.
We arrived in the historical centre. We went to the Gold centre for a jewellery demo.
They had some fantastic and unique jewellery. I went back here to get my nomination links. We moved onto the leather outlets. I didn’t like it much. It was a bit Paddy’s Market for me and the leather was not cheap at all. Rob went to watch the footy at a nearby Pub with the boys and then did a walking tour of Florence city. He saw the resting places of Michelangelo and Galileo. I went off on my own to explore Florence. It was a pretty town. Lots of street markets. I crossed the Pont De Vecchio bridge and strolled though the squares. I saw the gates of Paradise and the Baptistry. I walked around a few times but didn’t feel well and wasn’t buying anything. So I sat on the steps till we met at 5:45pm.

We arrived at our hotel outside of Florence. The bus can’t come into the historical centre and this was a better base for us to explore Tuscany tomorrow.
The rooms were fine.
Dinner was at 7:30pm and wasn’t very nice. A plate of pasta, pork and chips and crème caramel. Early night!
