This is for the record.

Merano is a lovely town amongst the Dolomites, in north of Italy. From the 5th to the 7th of november, inside the well restored ex-kurhaus, wine is the truly protagonist: XX wine festival with top producers of the world. I am there! after drinking enough (10 different varieties of reds and whites is definately enough for me!), parmigiano reggiano, great oils from puglia, and delicious torrone from campania, I walked on the riverside to rest my overstimulated senses. because of the middle season, I couldn't decide if it was more appropriate to choose the summer or the winter walk. but, in general, my spontaneous preference always goes to summer. today it was raining but warm and the colors of foliage were just should have been there to look at reds, yellows and few surviving greens, ... read more

After over two weeks of pretty much solid boarding and sleeping well below zero temps, we both felt a bit run down so headed for the spa town of Merano in northern Italy. It was a relativly short drive down through a mountain pass from Austria to Northern Italy but when we hit the pass in the evening we discovered it was closed for the winter a detail we wish was on our map! We had to camp near there that night and had a long detour via the Brenner pass to Italy the next day. When we finally got to Merano, even though the temp was in the low teens, it felt like Summer to us. We spent a whole day in the thermal spa complex, with 13 indoor pools and a handfull of ... read more

Hello all! What a week it has been . I am sorry that I do not write on this as often as I had planned but it is a hike to get to a computer! What a week it has been! Sunday we had Tea with Mary. She is an unbelievable person. She is so smart. I do think it would be hard to teach a class on your father. Maybe I should look into that.....haha. Monday classes started and it has been a good time. We have Mary´s Pound class at 11am monday, wednesday and thursday. We are reading the Cantos and are memorizing Dante in Italian. She told us "you all can read Italian, you just must admit it to yourselves!" We meet Sizzo in the afternoon, depending on when it is best for ... read more
