Well known as the home of the Shroud of Turin, and the football teams Juventus F.C. still...not many tourist will come to Turin, in fact ...there are more to offer in this former home for the Italian Royal family. Turin also the headquarters of automobile manufacturers FIAT, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Iveco. And the view of snow cap mountain of the Italian Alps off in the distance. The city is full of renaissance, baroque, rococo and neo-classical architecture. It isn't the typical Italian city, but more French with wide boulevards that some called it "the little Paris"; There are so many statue, Piazza and Palazzo, the main sight are congested between Porta Nuova train station and Porta Palazzo, and the huge market there attracted big crowd during the day, and the general commercial area lay mostly around Via Roma and Via Po. Nearby you could find Royal Palace, Palazzo Madama, Piazza Castello, Arciconfraternita della S. S. Trinita...the list could go on for quite some time. but one should not miss the 167.5m Turin landmark Mole Antonelliana, one should hike up the Monte del Cappuccini on the left side of River Po where also stood the Santa Maria del Monte church, the striking view up there is unforgettable. The dark side of the city also just a stone throw away from the train station, drug and prostitute activity could easily spot in the African quarter around Via Nizza and Via Saluzzo. Beside the African, I was surprised to see so many Chinese, not as tourist, they are doing business there, selling the same kind of shit that corrupted the world. but not just as street merchant, they has their usual restaurant business, and you know what...seem like most of the Japanese sushi restaurant are run by Chinese! they also started their hair saloon and massage parlor that is kind of their second nature. the worse is even the business of the unique Italian cafe bar had been invaded. wondered are they served your espresso with the coffee bean ordered from Taobao!
