Flat
The view of my flat from the outside. We live on the 7th floor. Ciao!
The first week of school is coming to an end, and I now have a better understanding of my schedule, how the school system works here in Italy, and my role as the assistant English teacher. As mentioned, I have 3 Teachers who I work with, and teach 18 hours a week. My schedule is different each day with some days having no break between lessons and some I have a long streched break between lessons. Today for example, I had one lesson at 8 am, a lesson at 10:45 am, and will have 2 lessons again in the afternoon. For my breaks in between lessons I typically come back to the flat because of the near location to the school, or grab a cafe with Francessaca or Susanna. It is normal to have multiple cafe breaks through out the day here in Italy...an example of another Italian culture difference I am adapting to (but love it!) At home, I have one cup of coffee in the morning and that is all. We must also remember that the cafe here is a smaller portion (almost similar to a shot of espresso in America). I tried a marocchino this morning
Cafe
A coffee break with my sister, Susanna. I average 3 each day. which is coffee, milk and nutella. This drink is a specialty and only in Torino, when ordered in other parts of Italy the drink is something different. Nutella, for those of you who are unaware, is a hazelnut spread with milk and cocoa and fun fact; the nutella factory is located near Turin in a city called Cuneo. In America you are able to find nutella at most grocery stores.
I have been familiarizing myself more with Turin and SUCESSFULLY walked home from my friend Jennies flat Yesterday afternoon. Her flat is a 20 minute walk from my location. To help you all understand my location in American terms...I like to say it's like myself living in downtown Minneapolis and Jennie living in Uptown Minneapolis. I am in the center of Turin while Jennie is farther away from the center. Happy to say it is a close walk and a rather simple one.
My body is still becoming familiar with the different eating patterns here in Italy such as eating dinner close to 9 pm. Hopefully by next week I will be adjusted! Last evening for dinner we had my favorite, pizza! Speaking of pizza, each time I
intoduce myself to the classes I tell them my favorite food is pizza and their eyes light up with joy because pizzz is a common word they understand! Most of the other sentences the teacher translate for them. Ofcourse they did understand me when I told them my favorite movie...Mama Mia!
With all of the adjustments, jet lag and becoing comfortable with the city, I had been out of my work out groove. I finally had the chance this evening to get back into my groove and it was spectacular. My host sister Susanna and I went for a run by the river near to their flat, River Po. It is a perfect running path that falls into Valentino Park (imagine Valentino Park like CentrL Park NYC, a large beautiful area for outdoor activity.)
In store for the weekend: a stay at my host families cottage in Casale, a town about one hour from Torino. A much smaller city than Torino. It's nestled away in the beautiful hills....an 'escape' from the city life in Torino!
Until my next blog, Happy weekend and go eat some inutella 😊
Oh, and for the record, it is not common

Mom and Susanna at their favorite °bar° ordering morning cafe. to drink tea at night in Italy. I brought some tea bags from home, and my host family was so surprised that I drink tea at night! My host mom now knows to heat water for my 'night time tea' and laughs while I sip it. I am in good care with my Italian mother.
