Later on in the afternoon, Milena, Zia, Dad, Michael and I went for a drive to the closest, largest town of Biella. Dad had decided that he wanted to buy a cuckoo clock! We went at this time of the day, as the shops would now have reopened from their three house siesta. We walked up and down the main pedestrian street - Via Italia. Above us we noticed many large colourful umbrellas and on this bright sunny day the colours were very bright and stood out. At the end of the street, in between the buildings we noticed the nearby mountains were visible.
Dad didn't have any luck with buying a cuckoo clock because the shop that had them was closed today due to it being a Monday! So we would have to return another day. Zia wanted to buy Michael and I a gift of perfume/aftershave. We choose our gifts and left Zia to bargain in the shop while the rest of us sat at the bar and enjoyed an afternoon Spritz and a snack. She soon joined us for a rest.

We bought very overpriced chocolates and lollies. The only reason we bought the chocolates is because of the tins that they came in. On the front of the tin is a silhouette of a Vespa and we wanted the tins as a souvenier. I hope they taste good!
Then we decided to stop in a nearby church – St Trinita. From the outside it looked very plain. This was a small church, but it was still able to take our breath away with its beautiful interior. The hi-light is the giant wooden altar that was created in 1682 by Giovanni Antonio Vaglio di Pettinengo.
Once we were outside again we noticed how plain this church's bell tower was. Near the church we stopped to look at the rounded Baptistery of San Giovanni Battista. The small building was officially closed, but we poked our head in the door and in between the scaffolding we could see a few frescoes on the wall. These frescoes date back from the 1300's and the building is of Romanesque design. The exterior was interesting to look at as it was made from pebbles and small bricks.

The dome was quite plain as only three colours were used to paint it – green, grey and pink. The ceiling was also just painted in these three colours. This colour scheme made the building a bit dull on the inside, especially after seeing all those other churches in the past two weeks.
We left the cathedral through its main entrance. At this time of the day the sunlight was perfect and the statues in the porch were well illuminated.
It was now time to go to the supermarket. We drove a little bit out of town. The supermarket was massive and sold everything. Michael, dad and I were amazed at the price of alcohol, especially spirits- they were so cheap! For only 10 euro we bought a bottle of chocolate liquor that was shaped as the top of the Mole Antonelliana in Turin. This is a building that we visited last time we were in Turin together in 2002.
We also found the locally made cheese 'Tomini' for Zio to take back to Loria with him later in

Most of dinner was already prepared, all we had to do was set the table and warm up the Fritto Misto. It was such an interesting mix of food, there was various sorts of offal, amaretti biscuits, semolina, fruit and vegetables. I really enjoyed it.
