Found again in via San Bernadino but another house
On a holiday all days are special but some more special than others. Today started with a reunion, to deliver a bottle of wine, with Agostino the patron saint of rescuing stranded women on bicycles. He had moved but as fate would have it we found him loading wood, onto his truck, on the side of the road near his new house in the same street.

Then started the pilgramage back to the pasticceria in Fossombrone for MORE delicious cakes. How many can one respectfully buy without being greedy! So many choices- such decisions. As fate would have it again (how blessed we are today), we met some locals who were fascinated with our 'french' car, and one of these three lovely gentleman was writing a book about the history of Fossombrone and could speak English! He showed us the palaces in the Main Street that we had walked past and admired but had no idea of their signifance or the architectural details to look for: it was fascinating. Funnily, he received a call from his wife and scurried off so that, according to his friends, he could avoid a 'divorce'.

Still chuckling, we headed towards San Leo via

numerous towns and again, views that were even better than anything we had experienced before. The towns we stopped at were magnificent: all located in the mountains and showcasing churches, castles, palaces, rivers, amazing old houses and walks in the hills: could you ask for better. Nothing prepared us for the amazing sights that confronted us. Driving into San Leo was out of this world: a city built on top of a mountain with a single lane entrance for cars leading across a narrow strip of land into the mountain.

As daylight faded we ventured home: the drive quite challenging with its steepness and winding mountain roads: a few wrong turns but good old 'tommy' the GPS got us there safely. If nothing else is included you MUST put San Leo on your bucket list.
