We arrived from the early morning flight in Milan
Made our way to the main train station where we were to meet Mateo
The plan was to meet at 10am and it was only 9:40 so we were doing well.
sat in the shade cast by the tall tower with the bright red countdown to the fast train and people-watched hoping to see matteo amongst the crowd....
well, we waited, and waited.. and prayed that he hadn't forgotten about us.
At 11 we left the meeting point to try and call and email him,
which turns out to be the exact time he came looking for us!
our paths did eventually cross and we met up with him and his room mate Mitch.
turns out they had been looking for us for just as long.. either way, it was SO good to see him again.
He took us back to his apartment to drop off our bags and had our first true Italian pasta!
met some of Matteo's friends and they showed us around Milan's nightlife through the eyes of a local,
as well as the typical touristy locations (the white marble church, castle and park)
and he even had a couple day trips planned for us.
one to the beach at Cinqe Terre- an area of five little towns and beautiful beaches,
we toured around Monterosso mainly.
another day was spent at Lake Como to take the tram up to the top of one of the surrounding mountains.
It was after Lynsey and Matteo's surprisingly convincing rant of "common its not THAT high" that the trouble came when Katie actually opened her eyes.. to be fair it was insanly high. however view was amazing and we ate our picnic lunch once at the top.
after another "traumatic" tram ride down we enjoyed granita, a sweet almond flavored slushy that you dip a sweet bread into.
next few stops are Venice, Florence, Bologna
and meeting up with Lisa and Jayme on the 1st of June in Rome!
