Sunrise in Venice
This was so worth the walk at 6 in the morning. For anyone interested, I have a multitude of pictures of this. (and of most things as well lol) I guess I am still dealing with some jet lag, because I woke up at 5 AM today. Not sure why, but I decided that what I should do was to go chase down the sunrise so I could see it and take pictures of it. Trying to follow a straight line in Venice is near impossible. I walked and walked and kept thinking that I would be at the Eastern edge of the island soon. I have to say that my favorite times in Venice have been either super later, or super early when the crowds are gone and the city is clean and quiet. This was a great walk, although I did feel a bit like I was in the Tales of the Vampire series, as in I was freaking out because the sun was coming up and I wasn't where I should be. All of a sudden, I turned the corner, and there it was; the most glorious sunrise I have seen in years. (ok, so I haven't seen any sunrise in years because I am not a morning person, but it was still glorious.) After several pictures, I took the vaporetto back to the hotel so I
View from room
If I stand out on the Romeo and Juliet balcony, this is my view. Yeah, this is what I am talking about. could finish packing and head to the train station.
The train to Como was nice. It took about 4 hours, and had beautiful views of the Dolomites on one side of the train. Once in Como, I took a taxi to the hotel. It's a nice hotel, and my room has a small balcony with a view of the Lake. I walked for a long time, stopping to just revel in the fact that I am here. As you will see in one picture, I was pretty pleased with myself as I had my gelato and looked out over the lake. I took a cable car type thing up to the top of the mountain across from the hotel It is called the funicolare and wow, what a view. For those of you who know me, you know that I was wishing it a a lot faster, say about 90 miles an hour like a roller coaster, but even at the slow speed it was fun.
After this, I took myself out to a nice dinner, having an antipasto of prosciutto, salamis and an spicy fig jelly. For the entree I had gnocchi with white truffles. Yeah, this
Lake Como
Not much more to say, than "wow" is why I am here. I was dining al fresco on a plaza with several other restaurants. Now, I am in a bar/coffee shop because the hotel doesn't have a decent internet. If I don't post tomorrow, please bear with me. I am heading to Bellagio for the day. I have a feeling it will kick the Las Vegas Bellagio's butt, but am open to seeing how they compare. The Venetian was nothing like Venice. Lol. Ok, so I have had a few Negronis, so my humor is not a sharp as I usually think it is. Ok, until the next time, Ciao, B
