We woke this mornig in a bit of a rush to get showered, down to breakfast and to the Vatican by noon.
Break was something to be desired from dried up sausage to stale breads. Not exactly what we were hoping for but what the heck, we were in Roma! We ate a little (I had oatmeal and yogurt mixed, pretty safe) then packed up to change rooms.
We headed out a purchased tickets for the hop on hop off bus that was suggested to us by the reception at our hotel. With little time to take in the streets, we searched for the pick up location for the Hop On bus but had little lick so we hopped on a public bus. We had. O idea what we were doing and no idea who we were to pay. In fact, we paid no one. We got off at the Vatican stop and started to make our way to the square.

Date with pope
A delightful surprise to stumble upon, Lungo il Tevere or Along the Tiber, was a festival
that rans for two months in the summer. There Gry and I enjoyed the evening. The festival featured many restaurants and exotic vendors in addition to entertainment such as foosball tables, historical displays, and people Of all walks of life. Although the area was quite a sight to see, there was no indication of its presence until we were crossing the bridge over the Tiber where the miles of white tents became visible. We crossed the bridge then the road and went down the steps to enter the festival.
Lungo il Tevere was a truly memorable experience that was not to be missed.
