An early start. The rain stopped during the early morning and though the temp was cooler, it was a pleasant suitcase drag to the stationale for a very fresh croissant and coffee prior to boarding our train to Roma (again). Roy and I are so proud of ourselves, sussing out the trains, finding accommodation, etc. and all without a bad word between us. He beat me at a game of Phase 10 on the first part of our journey between Le Spezia and Rome, which we had done before but still found some interesting views. Changed trains in Rome, heading for Napoli (Naples). The train reached 301 kms per hour though I only caught 300 kms per hour on my camera. Geo: 40.6263, 14.3757Had my last breakfast with my hostess at 8 am, she really was a delightful lady and I hope to see her again if possible. Left the apt a little before 9 to walk to the train station to make the 9:37 circumsuviana train to Napoli in order to catch the Frecciarossa train to Roma, I have a reserved seat leaving at 12:00. I had to stop at one point to take the backpack off, note to self: pack LIGHTER!! I have no idea how to do this as I only have the carry-on and smallish backpack... but if I can really want to take even less stuff.... Made it in plenty of time, bought the 4,10 euro ticket to Naples and sat on the train for 20 minutes waiting for it to take ... read more

Geo: 40.6263, 14.3757Buongiorno! Come stai?I have officially graduated from baby step 1 to baby step 2! We'll see if I can keep my studying up to stay there! However I did, it's been enjoyable and a real learning experience in several ways. Will make it short for the following reasons: 1. Have to try to sleep, have had a hard time the last few nights doing this...2. Am leaving early to make sure I have contingency plans in place in case the transit strike that was to end today, disrupts things tomorrow3. Should have time in the airports to do the blog tomorrow, unless running through the airport is involved4. Geo: 40.6263, 14.3757Hello all,Have had a fairly busy last 3 days, it's really hard to believe that I've been gone almost 2 weeks! In some ways, it seems longer than that but at the same time it's gone very quickly, time is a hard thing to define...Monday: We had 3 new people join our class, one gal that we already knew and was here last week. A woman from Switzerland that will be here for a month, and another gal from Norway, I think she may have been here last week also though in another class. The teachers have all switched around also, so we have two new ones, they are quite nice also but speak to us in Italian more... Molto difficile! Geo: 40.6263, 14.3757 We left London at 4 am by taxi for Stansted airport, we arrived at Naples on time before 10 am but Antonio, the driver who was supposed to pick us up was half an hour late. He did apologize and he gave us a good running commentary about the places we passed; He also took us on a longer scenic route and to the supermarket for shopping in order to make it up to us which was very nice of him. He dropped us at the Gocce de Capri apartments. On this trip, we were group of four friends and the hotel rooms would been small for us so we decided on staying in the apartment so we would have more space which was a very wise decision.
