Hey what's up witcha!! I am just kickin' it here in Dublin. Let me update y'all. First off, I know that man was not made to live on bread alone, but I am attempting to live on bread and chocolate alone. It seems to be working. Ok...Belgium was great. I spent to nights in Bruges, which is a city constructed of mostly mideval time buildings. They only reason the city wasn't knocked down hundreds of years ago and rebuilt like every other city in Europe was because the economy went sour and there was not enough money to do it. Bruges has canals, so think of a mideval Venice. I stayed in this cool hostel...it was kind of an odd check in though. Check in was at the bar downstairs...and I came at night so there ... read more

So, shortly after I finished typing up the last entry I was going to leave the room to go pay with my brother. I was following someone out and didn’t even think about the step that was there. Now I tried to keep my clumsiness a secret from the Irish. Hoping and praying that only the US would truly know the depths of it but it was all for naught. I twisted my ankle and fell face first on the stone floor. Scraped up my hand an knee and didn’t even have the too many pints for an excuse. Of course it was in front of a huge group of people (why is it when you do something EXTREMELY embarrassing there is ALWAYS a group to witness it)? I came up laughing hysterically because I was ... read more

Just had a nice weekend in County Kerry...took loads of photos, mostly slides which i don't get on CD when i get them back....but i might have a few B&W once I finish the roll....I found (so far) my favorite beach in Ireland--Caherdaniel, if i had a wetsuit, or even a bathing suit..i would have went in for sure, the water was clear and clean, looked so refreshing/cleansing!!! a few surfers there and brave swimmers, i'd say the current there is pretty strong but there was this stream that went sort of inland...i got the idea the main part was fairly tough partly by looking but mostly from the message scrawled on one of the protruding rocks--DO NOT SWIM HERE...it was quite kool, nonetheless....The previous night I stayed in this town on the Ring of Kerry ... read more

It is such a pain to have to update the journal for more then one day past. I tend to forget so much since we have done a hell of a lot. I am hoping I am getting some of the better comments and quotables down at least. Today we all kissed that F’n stone. I am so proud of both my mom and brother who have a fear of heights, my mom more so. Let us start from the beginning. This morning we woke up and ate a yummy breakfast cooked by the crazy lady. Eggs and Bacon. Now this is not like the bacon we have at home it’s more like a strip of ham but still good. They had tea and oj and toast and everything you could possibly want to sink your ... read more

Today was our trip to Kinsale. We are finally leaving the confusing confines of Dublin for what we hope is a much more country and easier to navigate city. The roads will be tough since most of them around here are very small two lane roads. Most of you who know me by sight know I am a short person; I can lay in the road and stretch my arms out to the other side. This is what they consider big enough for two-lane traffic. There is NO shoulder. We have driven many times against the shrubs on the side of the road. I can pick a foxtail flower if I wish from the moving car with out unbuckling myself. Speaking of a couple of things its funny to listen to the manner of speech they ... read more

Today we took a out of the city adventure. It is Blooms Day today... dunno what that means ^_~. We went to Newgrange and Trim Castle. IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME! We got up this morning so freaking early 7am! We got ready to go and headed out it was pretty easy to find our way out of the city this time and even coming back in wasnt bad. So we go to newgrange and it was very neat. We saw the demo and walked through it all very pretty i have tons of pictures i will show later. It's pretty amazing to think it was built 5000 years ago. Then after we saw that we went to Trim Castle (it's in the movie Braveheart) The town is very cute and pretty. We had fish and chips. ... read more

oh man! I thought i would NEVER EVER get here. Yesterday we left on time from West Haven to head to NYC ran into littletraffic and few problems getting to Aer Lingus. Had to kill about 20 million hours at the Airport Bar. Was interesting. Had very crappy bar/airport food. Called Casey to say goodbye and hopped on the plane. The plane ride had me so freaking excited i couldnt sit still or calm down for a long time. Finally i managed to grab a small ammount of sleep on the plane. They fed us dinner at like 1030 pm our time 400 am dublin time. It was actually fairly good food. Then i fell asleep for a shrt bit. When we landed in Shannon i was way too excited and kept staring out the window ... read more

California Dreaming From the moment I landed, I could recognize the echoes of the Bay Area in Dublin. It's younger inhabitants are hipper and more distinct from the old UK guard than I had expected. Perhaps it is because I walked out of my hostel and straight into the throbbing heart of the youth culture, on nearby Camden Street. In a glut of organic eateries, juiceaterias, cafelounges and multipurpose pubspaces, I found the two-headed monster that is Whelans and The Village. A pair of shiny nouveau loft buildings so out of place amongst the weathered brick that I half expected them to be plyboard fronts, hollow in back. Instead, the rear end of the block offered additional entrances to musical venues atop the well-kitted throngs of the portobello and prosciutto set. I just made that ... read more
