John after his 2nd drink! Don't feed him beer after 9pm!
Good evening - have had a good evening although damn cold here - went between 11 - 18 degrees today... the hottest part last about 25 minutes but tonight it was so cold we caught a taxi to - Oliver St John Gogarty Irish pub in Temple Bar... think Kings Cross Sydney..... the whole area was buzzing and was really great - people of all ages out and about despite the cold that we felt.... not sure about the others - some were in short sleeves etc.

From escaping prison and certain execution to breaking sporting records, Gogarty lived quite an active life from his birth in 1878 until his passing in 1957.
Gogarty was known to his friends as a quintessential joker, many stories and 'legends' have been told by many of Dublins best known literary genii such as WB Yeats and James Joyce. One such incident fondly remembered is on one particular foray into the depths of Dublin's social scene Gogarty once sold a drunken acquaintance to The Royal College of Surgeons for medical science. The ambience in the pubs here is really worth seeing - they've got the formula right.

I've noted that the triangular Give Way signs here - say something a little differently - YIELD, is the word used here.

Also for those like me who weren't aware, most Irish streets and many other things are written in Celtic as well as English - a lot more than you would ever think.

I have added several pictures from tonight - you'll see what happens to John after his 2nd beer and also after his 3rd. We all loved it at the pub tonight and both Johns' bought a T-shirt from the well known Oliver St John Gogarty pub.
