Scenic view as we leave Dublin

We have arrived safely to a beautiful sunny 62 degree day. Nobody really slept on the plane, but we had soda and coffee and got going.

We picked up our rental car (station wagon) at the airport and headed right out of Dublin. we thought we we getting a small SUV and ended up with a dorky VW passat, an elongated hearse.

but, Dee's luuggage fit in the back, so a blessing in disguise. the first thing I did as driver, was get in the "wrong" side of the car. Oops. Started on a nice big highway, like I270 going around Dublin. the hard thing about driving on the wrong side of the road, is not driving on the wrong side of the road, but staying on the correct side of your lane. Tom was in the passenger seat and I continuously hit the rumble strips as I drifted to the left side of the lane, which felt correct to me. It became a real problem when we exited the highway for the narrow supposedly 2 lane roads, with either a ditch on Tom side, or a rock wall or lovely bushes where he could easily have picked flowers from the

Crazy crossroads
car while I avoided the oncoming traffic and cyclists, Being a beautiful Sunday in the country, we saw cyclists everywhere climbing the Sally Gap. the first one I passed, I almost took out. Tom's was yelling at me to move over, but I was having a little trouble judging spacing from the wrong side of the car.

but,no matter how tiny the roads, the scenic route was inspiring. Made several stops for pics: lush greenery, babbling brooks, peat bogs, spray painted sheep, cows. a great drive.

We made it to Glendalough, which is a national park in the Wicklow Mountains, Old cemetery, monastic ruins, dating back to 900ad. then a 3mile hike up to a couple lakes, saw several waterfalls, sheep, etc. The weather was invigorating. a nice breeze, but comfortable in our jackets. after our hike, we sat outside and had an awesome lunch. Forgot to take pictures until it was all gone.

back to the car to drive to our stop for this evening, Cashel, Sitting in the hotel bar, waiting for dinner, then we'll probably crash and catch up on our sleep. it is 6pm here, but we are hanging in there! we are kicking jet lag.

driving to Cashel, but it waited till our hike and lunch was over.

Hopefully pictures will be up soon. They should be uploading now.

soda report...drinking coke. In a restaurant, it is about 3 euro and you get about 3 ounces with no free refills. Crap.

From Tom: Guiness still sucks.

Many of the sheep have pink, blue, green pain on their sides. I guess to track them some way. kind of ruins the picturesqueness.
