When we left on this portion of our trip, I can’t say that Dublin was part of the planned itinerary. I doubt that most people would think of Ireland as a good place to visit in the middle of early winter. However, sitting in the heat of late summer in Seville, Spain where it never rains and blue skies are ever abundant, the thought of a bit of cool weather and lush vegetation seemed like a welco... Love this pic Nanci. Not a whiskey drinker but it does take me there! Putting it on Follow that Road thread to lead others there as well.

Thanks, Dave!
Thank you, Dave. We are really drinkers at all any more, but it's hard to not have a Guinness when you're in Dublin.....

One of many nice photos
Nice blog entry. When reading it I realise that there are several places in Dublin we should have seen but didn't when we were there. I guess I'll have to go back some day. You have several spectacularly good photos. I pick this one as my favourite because. /Ake

Thanks, Ake!
We have seen a lot of things here that we probably would not have seen if the weather were nicer. I think we will have to come back and see all the outdoor things next time...

Poolbeg Lighthouse

Really love the way you framed this shot. The "not so perfect" weather made for some excellent mood lighting!

Poolbeg Lighthouse

Thanks!
This lighthouse is at the end of a mile long jetty into Dublin Bay. It was nice blue skies when we left and by the time we got to the end of the jetty, 50 mph winds were blowing and waves were coming over the jetty. Made; ;for an exciting walk!

Ireland
Dave always wanted to go to Ireland but it was never near the top of my list. A year ago March we spent a month there and I can tell you we loved every minute of it. We are eager to go back!

We like it too!
I think we thought of visiting "exotic" places more than Ireland, but we're very glad we got our opportunity to stay here for a while. Its been one of our favorites!

Nanci, thanks for all the great information. We will be flying into the Gallway area and making our way to Dublin for the last 4 days of our stay. This is not a lot of time to see Dublin, so your information is soooo helpful.
