Hello everyone!! I've been neglectful in my blogging duties and I apologize tremendously!! But with dashing off to London for a birthday weekend, working and my actual birthday, life has been hectic as always! So today I'm officially 23 and I'm not sure if I'm really feeling any older or wiser. I'm certainly wiser than I was when I first arrived in Ireland and I'm a lot farther along in deciding on my future, but I think I still have a ways to go. I also can't believe that I've already been in Ireland for over 4 months! The time is positively flying and I'm dreading that so much. I may have something up my sleeve that will prolong my stay in Ireland (sorry to break the news!) but until I know for sure I'm keeping the whys and hows a secret until then for a future blog!
So last weekend me and my bestest Colleen celebrated our birthdays with a long weekend away in London. It was my first escapade off the island and boy -- was it ever an adventure! Between 12 hours of night travel by bus and ferry (complete with screaming children, mobsters and random night
check-points), seeing every sight there is to see in London and the most amazing broadway show in the West End, it made for an exhausting, but thrilling weekend. Our decision to take the ferry was certainly an adventurous one and I won't say that I regret it; but I certainly won't be doing it again!! We got little to no sleep on the coach and then had a full day of touring around London and how we managed to get through without being grumpy and ridiculous is beyond me! London is such an amazing city and if I wasn't so sick of living in big cities I would say it would definitely be a place I'd enjoy living. It's sooo pretty and clean (especially compared to Dublin yeech!) and has so many trees and green space, it was lovely. We took a bus tour for an entire day, mostly just so we could enjoy the sunshine and saw everything from St. Paul's Cathedral to Big Ben and everything in between. Probably the best part of the whole trip was going to see the musical Wicked in the Apollo Victoria theatre; it was a dazzling performance and one I'm not likely
to forget! Seeing a professional show at an amazing theatre was SO cool and I had such a good time travelling with Colleen.
The only thing is travelling like that is almost a job and you come back so tired and worn out. Going back to my job was torture as well; it's hard to adjust back to reality. I can't wait now for Greece (less than 4 weeks now!!) and all of the other exciting things I have planned. The Dublin Horse Show is next weekend which is going to be absolutely amazing and I'm going to spend the entire weekend hovering around the warm-up rings and watching classes to try and get my fix of horse show essence; I'm like an addict! I miss it more and more every day and I can't wait until I can start riding and showing again! So last night we had a lovely outing for my birthday, complete with a delicious dinner and a surprise cake (thanks Jeanette :-) ) and some well deserved drinks around town. I also went on an insane shopping spree to treat myself (thank youu Brown Thomas!) so overall it's been the perfect birthday weekend! Now
if only my family and friends from back home were here, it would be absolutely perfect. As it is, it's definitely one of the best I've had and I'll always remember turning 23 in Ireland. But alas, I have things to do, places to go (Ok, not really, but I need to eat haha!) so I promise to write again soon and since you've been waiting so patiently, enjoy my hundreds of pictures! Thanks to my fantastic grandparents for the birthday card ( I love and miss you both SO much! xoxo) and to all of my family and friends both here and in Ireland for giving me an amazing birthday. Cheers!
xoxo Sarah
