Monday 20th dawned bright and sunny, a perfect day for driving westwards along the Wild Atlantic Way. This hugs the coast giving splendid views of peninsulas and inlets, rivers and bays with wide sandy beaches, or patchwork fields in rolling valleys. I thought I saw three seals in the water but as I rounded the headland i saw the whole beach and the group of wet-suited surfers. There wasn't a lot of traffic, just as well as the road was pretty narrow, though often widening out to allow parking to enjoy the breathtaking views. The whole route, all along the jagged southern and western coast is over 5,000 kms, and I could see the attraction of traveling all of it, though I can imagine it would be very wild in wet and windy Irish weather.
