Koska pääsimme liikkeelle vasta aika myöhään, emme käyneet enää rannikolla vaan ajoimme pohjoiseen. Kävimme katsomassa ensiksi tippukiviluolaa. Seurueeseemme liittyi siellä saksalainen turisti. Hän neuvoi meille näköalapaikan 'the vee', josta kävimme ihailemassa laaksoa. Cahirissa kävimme lounaalla. Linnassa kävimme minä ja Markku ja sveitsiläisessä talossa Pia ja Markku. Olin saanut edellisiltana tulostettua paluulippuni. ... read more

Part 76, “80s Love Songs Across Ireland” It’s still raining. It’s also September and I’m wearing long johns under my pants during the daytime. I’m a tropical person; I like sunshine, bananas and girls in daisy dukes. Everyone here is dressed like they’re part of the Nazi army about go invade Russia in middle of December, but in a stylish and sexy way. Our venture to Galway had us stop at the Blarney Castle so we could kiss the Blarney stone. Castles aren’t as spacious as one might think. They’re cold tiny and I’m sure they had rats. We heaved our fat butts up rope railed stairways and made our way to the top of the castle, where a brittle old man has you lay on your back, dip half your body over the side of ... read more

Kun muut joivat oluensa lopp... read more

Life can sometimes be difficult for a traveller, im not talking about going on holidays or taking a year off from college to get trashed in as many bars as possible. Im talking about people who sell everything, leave home and embark on a life journey with just the solely the possesions on your back to see and experience the beauty of the world to the point that it can ultimately change the person deep down at the very core of ones being. Its hard to believe I arrived in Ireland just over a year ago, a country I have always wanted to visit yet what brought me here was more for reasons of finding some stability and security from a wandering life that dissipated my energy in so many directions that I didnt even ... read more

Well it's nearing the dreaded moment when we have to say goodbye to friends and family again, but for the first time, I don't feel sad about where I'm going to. I have really enjoyed my stay here, but am looking forward to getting back to India and the good weather again. However it makes it so much easier knowing that I will be back again in the middle of December, so we won't be away for too long. I will meet Mikes mom in the UK and she will travel back with me on the flight from London to Bangalore, so it's great to have someone to travel with. I have already even arranged travel buddies for the next flight back in January too. My mother and my four Aunts have already booked to return ... read more

Well we are back, and enjoying being with family and friends again, and also loving the freedom of being able to head out on our own without organising anybody or anything. Even though it is great to have a driver, cook and cleaner in India, it also requires a lot of explaining, organising and time management, so it's just been nice to just do whatever we want whenever we want. We went to the beach yesterday and we had so much space to ourselves, running up and down the beach and jumping in the admittedly, cold water, but there is so much joy in just having space. Cael was all dressed up and ready for the cold beach with his waterproof leggings, jacket and boots, but he looked very cute in them. Freedom and scope just ... read more

We spent two days on the Beara Pennisula. It rained a lot. However, we did have a couple of wonderful hikes where the sun would break through and everything would sparkle. In search of standing rocks/stone circles we went on a couple of walks, one that included three stone circles and a wonderful view of the ocean past the last circle and a great mossy forest at the beginning of the trail. On the second day, we finally gave up and hiked up the side of a mountain along the coastal road. The way down included slipping and landed on a bed of thrones, almost being stuck on a ledge and lots of sliding in the mud. After exploring ways of drying out in the car including our packed lunch, we were able to drive the ... read more

After an awesome (but very quick) visit to Scotland we've met up with the Dairs and are traveling around Ireland. So far, we've managed to: - drink Guiness in Dublin - climb the Cliffs of Moher - look at clouds and rain in the Ring of Kerry - kiss the Blarney Stone - eat our weight in Irish Breakfast We're having a great time - hard to believe there are only three days until we'll be home! We are heading towards Waterford today then back to Dublin for tomorrow evening. ... read more

It's been so long since I blogged I almost forgot my login details. It has been crazy! We spent a week drinking at the Cork Week sailing festival and then went touring again through West Cork, Kerry and Clare and ended up this week in Galway for the famous Galway Races racing festival. Guess what we are drinking again! I love Irish beer but I can only drink so much. This upcoming weekend is a holiday weekend (known locally as the August bank holiday (not very imaginative) so we are going to stay in Galway and experience the height of the tourist season in Galway. Alcohol rules!!! ... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Cork » Kinsale July 29th 2008

Today, we overslept! We scheduled our breakfast for 8am and we woke at 8:10. We hurried ourselves down to breakfast and it was almost 10am before we left the B&B. We were sad to see that is was raining, but we couldn’t complain since this would only be the second day of rain, which is pretty good for Ireland. We headed for downtown Kinsale to see some more sights that we have missed the previous evening. Downtown Kinsale was very busy; I think that all the locals and tourists had the same idea. This tiny town was bursting at the seams with people, and we had trouble finding parking. We wandered through the shops and a great farmers market for the next few hours. Kinsale is a beautiful harbor town below Cork City and we all ... read more
