Today was a long driving day and Tim and I were relegated to the back seat. There were 2 other people back there with us. We had a lot of driving but we did stop at some neat places along the way. They did a game where everyone had to come up with an adjective that starts with their first letter (of their name) and their name. Tim was Thick Tim (inside joke from college for Nicky and Tim). Nicky was Nice Nicky. Shelly was smiling shelly and I was Cool Claire. But, I remembered 10 other names. I really liked the game. We have a cool group of folks on the trip. All but 1 is from the states, Eva is from the Netherlands. Our first stop is St Patrick's Rock in Cashel. It's an old castle/chapel that is now in ruins (last used in the 1700s). We then drove to Blarney Castle where they have the Blarney stone. It's said if you kiss it, you will get the gift of gab. we told Shelly she could not kiss it as a) it could make her lose her gift or b) we could not survive if she had more. We

walked the ground and saw waterfalls, a poison garden and and the Blarney castle and stone.
Now, none of us kissed the stone. To kiss it you have to lay on you back and stick your head outside the wall and bend backwards. Eva did it and we took pictures of her. we all decided it wasn't worth it.

Now Ireland is interesting. It is GREEN. It has a lot of BEER. They have roads that have vegetation growing up to the roads. I swear they must have a machine that is 15 feet high and shaped like a box that drives down the road and trips the vegetation. We are driving thru tunnels. it's crazy. It rains for 5 minutes, then the sun comes out, then 30 minutes later it's raining again.

BUT... it's beautiful. We are all having such fun and the group we are with is great.

We stayed in Gougane area at a hotel near a lake (no city). we had a group dinner at the hotel and then crashed for the night.
