We arrived in Ireland on Wednesday, January 7 and spent our first few days settling into our apartments, getting over jetlag, and finding our way around Carlow. After a few days of not doing much, we decided to take a walk out into the Irish countryside to see the historical Brownshill Dolmen.
We started our walk around lunchtime on Saturday. What we thought was going to be a short, relaxing walk in the countryside ended up being a never-ending walk along a busy road, with cars speeding past us on one side and a tall stone wall on the other side. When we got to the dolmen, though, it was all worth it. What looks like a huge pile of rocks was actually a tomb about 5000 years ago. After the long walk there, we decided to sit down and eat our lunch near the dolmen. After everyone had had enough food and taken enough pictures, we headed back to Carlow. Luckily the walk back seemed to go much faster.
