Leaving the ferry for Athens
Sunday !st March
To those of you who have held your breath for the next exciting instalment .... I'm sorry!
Catching up on 17th March.
Leaving the ferry at Patras the sat nav. decided not to work , so we followed our new German friends out onto the highway, finding out later that they were following a greek man who was f0llowing .. no, not really. Later when the sat nav did work, we had a hair-raising journey , cars and motor bikes over-taking from both sides at great speeds. Finding Pireaus was o.k. but the Ferry terminal.. a night mare, no signs and we were following a tram sometimes, we only had a short time to get to the Kos ferry but after going round a roundabout the wrong way and racing through the narrow streets of Athens Rob had to brake hard and swerve to avoid another car. The brake disc sensor was broken and we had to continue with a loud rattle from the front wheels. By a stroke of luck Rob saw the Blue Star of the ferry line on the ship we were due to leave on, we raced through the port and arrived at

the ship at 6.10 and bought tickets for us and we were loaded on board.
What a suprise for me ! Rob had got an upgrade and now I was esconced in one of only two 'de luxe' cabins at the front of the boat! so swish, a big double bed, seating area, a huge window facing forward,tv,dressing table, roomservice and complimentary drinks. After afew drinks and a chat with Sabine and friends we luxuriated in our deluxe, unfortunately the ferry docks at 5am so we had to be up at 4am( there.s always something)
Throughy the window we were able to see the lights of all the Greek islands that the Captain had to navigate round, it was lovely at night and Iwould think really interesting in the day time. Some passengers were disembarked at Santorini at midnight and all too soon it was our turn as the little island of Kos came into view, well ,the lights anyway.
Arriving on the Quay side at that time in the morning there were no shops open , but Rob found us a little cafe, and we enjoyed coffee and delicious vanilla croissants, and afterwards Rob jacked up
