After around two hours of sleep we woke and took the metro to Pireaus port which is where all the ferries leave for the islands from. We bought tickets for something like 29 euros and made our way onboard. The ships were actually far larger than I had expected, comparable to small cruise ships. Finally we had made it to the sea and the water was even more blue and beautiful than I had anticipated. We were all quite tired so we tried to pass out for a while on the boat but it was hardly comfortable. Still managed to get a decent amount of sleep over the entire ten hour trip. We made it to the island around 5 pm and got a room at the far out beach club which was a sweet ... read more

Where in the world is Georgia Sandiego? Europe » Greece » Mykonos By Highway GirlMay 30th 2007Georgia I closed my eyes, spun around a few times for good measure (while sober, of course), and my finger landed on . . . Mykonos!!! This is going to be a short one, kids, because it is far too gorgeous here to be sitting in front of a computer. The weather gods seem to finally be on my side, and to say that I nearly lost my breath when I saw the view from my room is an understatement. Since I sadly can't have you all here with me, I'll send you a part of this gorgeous island and let the pictures speak for themselves. I hope this finds you all well. Ch... read more

Well 5 more days to go and we have got some sunshine after a few days of rain and cold. the islands definately look much prettier when the sun is out. We had a great day yesterday, scooting around on a quad. Teresa on the front Sel on the back with the wind in our hair and rain on our face. We walked on the black pebbly beach under the shadow of a mountain at a place called Kamari, bought some more souvenirs since we decided we now have enough money to spend it like it's going out of fashion, heehee. Beautiful sunny day today, so we walked the 1km or so from where we were staying to the main town Fira. The villas we stayed at are situated on the edge of the cliffs ... read more

okay, this is Kelly Carr now speaking, we are trading off and on on the blogging. so, we left off meeting eddie "harmless eddie" in naxos. he asked if we were miki and we said yes and he took us off to hotel glaros, a room we had booked from one of our books just the day earlier. the port of naxos is small, not too many bars, very quiet island, and he took us pretty much in silence to hotel glaros because he was from albania and only spoke a little english. we arrived to the hotel arounnd 0100 and it was great, so much better than fivos!!!! it was so quaint and so clean. it was done like a seaside hotel with aquamarine colors and clean beds and a great bathroom and a ... read more

When we got to Paros the weather wasn't great so we checked into the hotel and then we walked to a church that is known as "The Church of 100 Doors". The funny thing is that there is actually only 99 doors that anybody has actually found and it is said that if you find the 100th door you will return Turkey back to Greece (there has been fighting over who it belongs to for years). After that we wandered around the town a little bit before heading back to the hotel and meeting everyone for dinner. We went to a local restaurant but we had a set menu and nobody really enjoyed their dinner. After dinner we headed out to a small bar for a couple of drinks and when we got inside it ... read more

We took a tour in Rhodes, Greece today. About 40 of us, climbed on a bus to see some historical sites and check out some stores. Nearly had a big problem with a lady on the bus who started ranting and raving that I had taken her seat (funny, I didn't know we had seating assignments. Oh yeah, that is because there were none.). We had a nice laugh about it, but strange, she didn't find it the least bit entertaining. I can't name each of the places visited (but i will find them out), however we went to a great souvenir shop and jewelery shop. We bought perfumes that normally retail in the US for 40-60USD for less than 5 bucks! Sweet! :) The tour ended with us having some authentic Greek food. Umm, ... read more

We missed the 9am boat to Lindos, so we took a bus instead. The journey was 1hr 20mins. We took a donkey ride up to the Acropolis of Lindos. It was very exciting. The donkey tends to walk very close to the edge of the cliff. The one i was riding was only 6.5 yrs old, Anthony's donkey was 13 yrs old. they're still considered young donkeys. Next was to the beach.. we were all geared up for swimming.. but the water was freezing cold. We deduced that the season is still too early for swimming. On the bus ride back, Shawna did it again. In the middle of the journey, she broke out in cold sweat and nearly fainted. Anthony had to stop the bus with a full bus load of ang mos in the ... read more

Hello all, As there has been only one response to my last entry (thanks auntie Rosemarrie) you probally won't care that I am still alive and have been cleared of any lung diseases or virus. Anyone would think I had the bird flew (hee hee, get the pun) or something. I now have many needle marks in my bum (sel calls it a pin cushion) but I feel much better. We have finally got to explore some of the islands today and enjoy some of the scenery. Tomorrow we head to Santorini for two days and we are looking forward to that as we will not be seeing mostly the walls of the hotel there. That was all. Teresa... read more

Rhodes is a pretty medival town. The tour of the Place of the Grand Masters, exhibits of the living conditions of the past and we also got a glimpse of the interior of the palace although many doors and windows were closed and out of bounds. We also walked through the Avenue of the Knights. It was just like back to the past, in the show, you can imagine the Knights riding down the middle of the avenue and people cheering them on by the side. There was so much big hoo har about the seafood so we decided to spend some money on a mixed seafood platter for one for dinner. It's actually no big deal. The swordfish fillet was good, the grilled octopus was tough and tasted bitter (the Japanese sashimi is better). The ... read more
