The Amazing Blue Roofs
This photo is what sold us for the cruise The first day at sea involved sleeping in, something we hadn’t done since starting our travels. My friend Rachel and I decided to go off and do our own thing in the morning. My decision was to eat a great breakfast at the buffet and then to grab my book and lay by the pool. I found a great lounge chair and just got to enjoy the sun and relax. After lunch I met up with Rachel, we hung out in the solarium and had pizza and French fries as a little treat. We went to the bar and enjoyed the drink of the day before dinner.
The next morning we arrived at Santorini, Greece. This port was one of the main reasons we choose this cruise. We arrived via small boat since the cruise ship couldn’t dock in Santorini. You arrive below the main town of Fira on the coast and there are two ways to make it up to the town. One was a quick sky gondola ride or the other was riding a donkey. We couldn’t wait to explore the island so we opted for the gondola ride. Once we made it up we saw the amazing
Fira Building
This was near the bus stop in Fira views of the water and coast. After exploring the city of Fira we took a bus to the smaller town of Oia. The town has the beautiful blue roofed churches. We got off the bus and walked towards the main street. Rachel wanted to go off the beaten path a little and walked down a small path that got us close to the amazing blue and white buildings. During our walk I saw some of the most amazingly beautiful sites of my life. We both instantly feel in love with Santorini. We had lunch in a restaurant overlooking the ocean. We each tried the licorice flavored liquor of Greece. During lunch we bumped into 2 people we eat dinner with and thanks to them got the opportunity to try both octopus and squid. After lunch we explored the town of Oia a little while longer exploring a few churches and just enjoying all the views. We headed back to Fira with the mother and son from our cruise dinner table. They told us it was kind of fun to ride the donkeys up to the town and convinced us it would be fun to ride them down. Going down a
Our Favorite
Between Rachel and I we must of taken around 70 photos of just around these couple of blue roofed buildings steep set of stairs ridding a donkey pulled by an old Greek man was a great adventure to say the least. It might not have been the most comfortable mode of transportation but it was a great story. We headed to dinner and all exchanged stories about our great days in Santorini.
The next morning we arrived at the island of Corfu in the Greek Isles. This island had a very different feel than Santorini and almost looked a little like Italy. Our first stop was at the old fort of the island. We explored the ruins of this amazing structure and got to climb to the top and got great views of the main city of Corfu. The day we spent in Corfu was also one of the hottest, but we refused to let it slow us down. For lunch we found a restaurant right on the water to enjoy Greek salads and pita bread. After lunch we walked around the small streets of Corfu. We then headed up to the new fort of get another view from above. Corfu was beautiful and its castle right in town was pretty fun to see and explore. After having some
