Athens
This was at the restaurant where the woman was singing and the Greeks were dancing When I arrived in Athens it was cold and rainy, but I was so happy to see my parents! We spent the day walking around a bit and ended up at this restaurant later that evening with live Greek music. When we first arrived we thought the music wasn't so great, but this woman ended up singing and she was amazing! Everyone in the restaurant was singing and clapping, I felt like I was in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. My parents were really jet legged so it was hard to adjust to sleeping with them. They would wake up at 4 in the morning and then want to take a nap in the evening. I ended up getting adjusted to their sleeping habits and had a hard time readjusting when I got back to Milan. The second day we woke up and it was a beautiful sunny day! We went to a coffee shop and drank espresso in the sun before going to se the Parthenon. We had a difficult time trying to find the entrance, but a few hours later we found it and climbed up to the monuments! It was incredible to see! Not only the buildings but

Me standing in from of the Parthenon! the view of the city and the ocean. It was the highlight of Athens. The following day we woke up and went to see the tower of Zeus. It wasn't as incredible as the Parthenon and Acropolis, but it was still amazing. We went to bed early that night in order to get up really early to catch our ferry to Santorini which ended up being 8 hours. We left Athens in the rain but as the day went on the sun came out and we were able to sit outside, drink beer and admire the little Greek islands. Santorini was beautiful! All the white houses and churches, everywhere you looked was a postcard picture. The island is where Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was filmed and one of my pictures is the exact shot they have in the movie! We stayed in the town where it was filmed! The place we stayed was an old fisherman's house. It was very Greek. We didn't have a shower, it was simply a hose next to the toilet which ended up being a difficult task. Our deck looked out to the Mediterranean sea. It was gorgeous! That night we walked to watch

The next day turned out to be a holiday so nothing was open and it was really windy outside. We decided to rent a car and drive around the island exploring. We decided to see if I could possibly change my ferry ticket so I could stay longer with my parents, but when we drove down to the dock where the ferries come in, the road was being washed away by the strong winds and huge waves! They ended up canceling all ferries for that day so when I took the ferry the following day it was packed! I had to stay the night in the Athens airport and waited until 2 pm the following day to take my flight back to Milan. I arrived back at my apartment at 7pm and I had to wake up at 3 am the next morning to meet my friends to go to Amsterdam. We flew into Brussels, ate some Belgium waffles, bought some chocolates and then took the train to Amsterdam. One of my best friends from home, Heidi was there too to

The next morning we got up and met up with friends to do the 3 hour walking tour of Amsterdam. It was really interesting the history and the little fun facts our tour guide gave us about the city. For instance, the red light district with the prostitutes were originally there for when the sailors came to town and needed to relax. Later that day we went to the Van Gogh museum which was really neat. They had a floor of all of his artwork and then another floor of doodles he had done on napkins and paper bags. We stopped at the I Amsterdam sign and took a bunch of pictures before going out for Heidi's birthday. We ended up at a bar and danced the night away. Unfortunately we left at 2 which quickly changed to 3 because of the daylight savings, but we all had a good time. Our last day we went to the Anne Frank house. It was so weird being inside her house where

It reminded me of an old city. All of the buildings are close together and there are canals everywhere. It was very quaint. By the time I got home, I needed a break before my parents came to visit Milan.
