Rhodes Town

After returning late afternoon it had been our intention to pop out again later for a stroll, but when it came time to go out again we really couldn't be bothered. I went to the kiosk across the road and we snacked in the room.

Down to breakfast just after nine o'clock and then back to the room to pack. We sorted all our stuff out and moved our bags down to reception, to leave them at the hotel for a little while as already arranged. We left the hotel at 1130 and went to the office where we booked the ferry tickets to see if we could find any information about whether our ferry was going to sail today.
The young lad was able to tell us straight away that our ferry had been cancelled. There was a ferry option for Thursday but it hadn't left Piraeus yet so he didn't know if it would be in Rhodes on Thursday to return and in addition it was a 26 hour passage which we had avoided the last time of booking. So we took his advice and booked the same ferry, same time, but now on Friday. There was no charge or any extra payment, which we wouldn't have expected anyway.
This only left us with the problem of being on Rhodes for two extra nights and as yet no hotel booking. When we had spoken to reception this morning we had asked, in passing, what the occupancy was like for the next few days and she said that they were all right for Wednesday but very booked up for Thursday night. So we went straight back to the hotel and explained we weren't able to leave the island until Friday and could they accommodate us for two more days?
The Wednesday wasn't a problem and then she uhmmed and ahhed for a while checking for Thursday night and eventually the computer said "Yes". This was good news for us and I duly paid for the extra two nights - at the same rate - straight away, while Pat took the bags back up to the room.
So by 1230, having checked out at 1130 we were back in the same room and moving in. Our only issue now was to see what happens with our hotel booking in Athens which we need to postpone for two days. We sent them a quick email explaining and will see what happens.
Because we have no agenda then this delay is really no big deal and the receptionist in the hotel was more worried than we were.
Then we went out again and headed for Starbucks and a good cup of coffee. Along the way we walked past the port and there are four cruise ships in today. One of them is called the Happy Dolphin which doesn't seem to us to be a very impressive name for a cruise ship.
We arrived at Starbucks and had our coffee, free wifi here, but no response from the hotel in Athens yet.
Then we decided to do some wandering around the shops and we first went to Marks & Spencer - yes there is a branch here - and BHS and Pat's new favourite the Hondos Centre, Zara and so on.
We lunched in McDonald's and then returned slowly back to the room arriving at 4 o'clock.
