The Whole Adventure

EwEwEw

I touched a sea cucumber... So did Lindsey.
This morning - bright and early - we boarded ship and set sail on the Aegean. I wasn't sure what to expect, other than magnificance....
The leader of our little expedition was a man named Peter Nicolaides (professional diver, oceanographer-biologist, off-shore engineer). He runs a school here called The Aegean Diving College and is one of the most intellegent, humble, fascinating individuals I've ever met. Yes, he's worked with Jaques Cousteau. Wow.
Anyhoo... after Peter's lecture on the small islands just off the coast of Paros and the wonders beneath the sea (which, by the way, you can see from the boat - the water here is crystal clear... if you dropped a penny of the boat into 10 ft of water or more you could see it from the boat! - I'm getting away from the point, though) - after the lecture, we donned our wet suits, masks, snorkles, and flippers and dove from the boat into the water. On the opposite side of Antiparos (the neighboring island), we learned about Artemis' ears, Noah's arks, bi-valves, art theft, fishing walls, etc. I saw an actual Roman well under the water and several tombs. We went to another island and saw

the beginnings of excavations on an ancient site. We were walking over pottery shards that were around thousands of years before Christ.
I don't know what else to say. What a day!

wow
It was great to hear your voice yesterday. I hope today has gone a lot better. Your from Oklahoma so just wait around for an hour or so (just like the wheather here) your mood will change. I know you and know that you will hang in there and do what it takes to get through and enjoy the chance of a life time. Take a couple of hours for you and just relax and enjoy. E-mail me when you get a chance. Love ya, Sis.
