Gibraltar UK 26 August 2013

At last we have seen The Rock of Gibraltar!!!! It has been another life-long aim. We didn’t climb the rock so missed seeing the monkeys that guard The Rock, but we did drive through the 2.5km tunnel which goes through the middle of it. The tunnel was not lined with concrete. It was solid rock that they had tunneled through so there was no need for concrete lining!!

At the point of Gibraltar that is closest the Africa there in an underground museum with the history of Gibraltar and the UK presence.

The multi story houses carried numerous Union Jack flags so there was no doubt that this was the UK and not Spain.

We had to drive through immigration into Gibraltar which is a peninsula of land. We drove right around the country of Gibraltar, stopping at the most southerly point and could see Morocco in the distance. We would be in Morocco from 31Aug to 8 September.

We then drove back to Spain.
