Walk in the forest

Yesterday Dan and I spent a few hours walking through a large, woody forest area that is close to his apartment. The trees were amazingly green, the rolling hillsides picturesque and it was quiet except for churchbells ringing in the distance. Underfoot was a dense, soft carpet of old leaves. We trudge along vague pathways and tracks, noting several 'hides' (good for bird watching, these were like small wooden cubby houses built up off the ground), also some ancient marking stones that were scattered alongside the pathway. The mosy amazing thing was the sunshine that lasted until well after 8pm and was still shining in through the windows when we got back!!
