We traveled through small towns ‘topless’ to Bühl and found our accommodation quickly. It was a convent that had diversified to increase income. We were slightly concerned that we’d end up in single sex dormitories but we’re pleased to find a beautifully presented room and access to the beautifully tranquil grounds.

We decided to drive to Baden-Baden and stroll along the Lichtentaler Allee. The stunning promenade alongside the river through the parks and into the beautiful town itself was delightful. We even clocked up enough steps to warrant an ice cream.
