The church
That's the church which looked empty inside. I think Salut mes Quebecois favorie. Bon sa va s'arretter la mon orthographe est mauvaise. This will probably be my last entery until I get back from my trip in Austria Skiing in the alps. Today I spent the day in Köln it was really nice I had so much fun. This morning I left at around 8:00 to catch the bus alone and I had arranged to meet with the guy I met on the bus my first trip there. I arrived at 9:30 about at the bus station it's beside the train station in Köln for those who might know. So he met me there and we hang out for the day. For those who don't know he was an exchange student in Colorado last year for a semester. First we when in the Dom. It's so lovely I don't see how anyone can get tired of going to see it because everytime one can notice something different. There is so much little details and so many murals to see that once is never enough. It was really lovely because this early in the morning there wasn't many people. Then we went to walk bye the Rhine for a little while
and sat down the path is pretty nice. It reminds me of the Vieux port in Montreal mixed with New York. But it was lovely the weather was great the sun was shinning and It wasn't to cold. After that we went back up to the area where the shops are and looked around a little while.
I found this really cool I don't remember the names but it's four stories high with a mixture of all the brands I love. Bench, esprit, Tommy Jeans and so on plus all the designer brands on the high floors like Escapade, Hugo Boss, Burburry and on. I didn't buy anything though. Did I already mention I do not like to shop with friends. Only with my mommy but she's not here so I guess it's alone or nothing at all but I wasn't in a buying mood and I didn't want to make my buddy waith for me so after that he took me to a big book store and I bought an english book from an author I like then we got back out and we went across the street to another store Style MoMO sport but there was a
My tour guide for the day
he did a pretty good job. huge pool in the store and you could test out a Kayak you where planing to buy there where also little exibistion like that. There was a Freezer we went in and we could see how resistent are coats where to the cold weather, Which wasn't much taking the fact that he only had a big pullover and I had my fall coat of. minus 7 degrees. After that He brought me in the back streets where there where local shops in the less touristy area which where absolutely lovely. And it was really nice because the big crowd wasn't there. I guess we walked around for a little while then decided we should get back to the Rhine since we were more in the middle of the old town. We walked what seemed like a long while before reaching a familliar place. Simon kept insisting we where not lost and he knew where we where but I have my douts about that.
Once we got closer to the center where the Dom while crossing the street I heard some people speaking french so I listened a bit more carefully and the accent sounded familiar. So I went up
and asked vous parler francais! Oui nous somme du Canada. Je leurs est dit moi aussi de l'estrie pret de sherbrooke car la plus par du temps person connait la ville ou je vie c'est un trou. So then one man told me ah yeah we are from Granby. It was 2 men and 3 women of a certain age. One of the Women made me think of my aunt Jacquine that's why I heard them talking and I caught my attention. She was arguing with her husband about the way to get back to the Dom. So on with the story. After telling me the man was from Granby and he's like shes from Windsor. Pointing at the lady like Jaqueline. So I told them were I live since it's really close and I figured by then she would know where it is. I talked a little bit with them in french it was nice I told them what I was doing here and they told me they where on an organized trip and that they had went to Luxembourg and a Few other places and where off to France tomorrow. It's funny they where all happy to have
met someone so close to home yet away from home. And I too was very happy. I expected to have people from Montreal or that area but the fact that they lived near by made it so much more special. It was nice. I told them they where on the right way to the Dom and we walked are seperate ways.
Simon and I Reach the Rhine and had to go back on are foot steps to go to the Lindt Schocolade museum. In there the free samples are really nice the yummy chocolate =) Lindt. We walked around and looked at stuff it's funny how some of the signs where in english and German and others where only in German to say that there are alot of tourist going by all should be in both Languages. It explained the process of how coco beans are turned into chocolate and all. Really nice but there was alot of people so It was kind of difficult to see everything and it was really hot in there. So we chatted along the side and looked out the windows. You have very nice views of the old city and the Rhein. We
I love that street
it's more in back where people do no go to much got left after a quick visit of everything and went to sit out on the top of the museum their where benchs and a place where you can view the river and absorbe the anbiance of the old town. We then went over to a little restaurant to have some drinks. Simon made fun of me saying few comments about me not being the only one learning German refering to a French couple beside us.
We went to sit by the water not sure what to do with the rest of are time then went over to look at another church near by but it musthave been repair because It felt empty and there wasn't much in it a few basic paintings and spiderwebs in the hights of the building. Overall the hight and the structure of the building was nice but it lacked some life. It felt unloved. It dates back from the 1100's.
for the rest of are time we went by the rhein to sit. But we were taken by the rain so we decided to go inside to the train station but by the time we made it by the dom the rain had
I almost got killed taking this picture
me taking apicture in the middle of a street stopped so. We didn't do but after that just went to a little backery and he had me try a Berliner which is a donut to me. Those without a whole and a fruit filling inside expect instead of it being covered of du sucre en poudre it was rolled in sugar. It was around 5:00 so we slowly walked back to bus station.
My day was fun. When I got on the bus I put my ticket in the machine but it didn't click so I thought it was not working because the bus was off at that point so I went to sit and thought I would go back to try it when the bus started running. Not a good idea. I had the bus driver personally come to see me yelling at me in german and when I tried to explain it to him in english he told me I do not understand we are in deutschland and went on and on with it. I Find the drivers here so rude and they don't speak english it's not my first incounter with a mean bus driver since I've been here and I wish they could be
nicer when they work in the public.
So tomorrow I leave for Austria hopefully all goes well.
byebye Love you all.
